City of Jackson and
United Way of the Capital Area
Back to School Event
Invitation To ParticipateTM
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of Jackson and United Way of the Capital Area are collaborating to host the 6th Annual Back To School Celebration and Supply Giveaway will be on Saturday, July 25th 2015 at the Jackson Convention Complex. This event is a celebration to enhance and promote education and literacy in our Bold New City.
This year's event culminates the City of Jackson's and Jackson Public School's summer reading efforts through Jackson Reads, One Jackson Many Readers, Summer Reading, Boost Program, National Summer Reading Day, Literacy Boot Camps and other activities. This event also provides everyone who attends an opportunity to learn about the City of Jackson's and Jackson Public School's services, initiatives and programs. Additionally, parents will be able to sign their children up for tutoring services, after school programs and other volunteer, civic and athletic programs. Last year we had over 50 vendors participate in the event. health related services, after school programs, tutoring services, youth related services (i.e., volunteer, civic and athletic programs, parent groups, etc.)
We are planning for 3,000 - 5,000 young people and their parents to attend this great event. Please note: limited quantities of backpacks will be distributed to students who bring an extra Back To School Reading Log to the event. We need your help!
